There’s space for gas in the decarbonisation drive

6th Nov 2018

Tomorrow, the Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA) hosts ‘Gas 2018- The Next 50 Years’. A leading industry event at The National Space Centre, in Leicester.

Gas 2018 will examine the future of gas in the UK, for heat, transport, and industry. Eight out of 10 people rely on gas for home heating, and around 30% of Britain's gas is for industrial and commercial demand and all at a time when great progress is being made in decarbonising gas.

The gas grid is a key national asset it makes sense to decarbonise the gas going in to this highly developed network, which provides a secure, flexible source of energy and has the power to be truly transformative; it can be used to tackle some of the most pressing energy issues – from affordability and fuel poverty, to decarbonisation and meeting climate change targets.

Gas 2018 will demonstrate how the gas grid is light years ahead in the drive for decarbonisation. In addition to superb networking opportunities, delegates will benefit from critical insight from senior business leaders. From a view of the gas grid in 2068 and a look at what are our cities might do, to future scenarios for heating homes and developments in gas appliances, we examine the challenges and opportunities our industry faces.
