Now’s the time – start telling customers about new boiler legislation.
2nd Nov 2017
Last month the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) announced Boiler Plus, mandating requirements for all combination boiler installations in England. The intention of these standards is that they will encourage domestic energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
Whilst the provisions will not come into effect until April 2018, it is vital that consumer awareness of Boiler Plus is an industry focal point in the coming months. The Heating and Hot Water Industry Council (HHIC) flow chart is a useful way for installers to explain the process to customers, and outlines what constitutes and does not constitute a qualifying installation.
As outlined in the flow chart, the legislation will require all those fitting new combination boilers to include one of the following in their system:
- Flue gas heat recovery systems
- Weather Compensation
- Load Compensation
- Smart controls featuring automation and optimisation functions.
