Lord Bourne of Aberystwyth, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change, (DECC) has been announced as the keynote speaker at this year’s prestigious Gas Industry Awards and Gala lunch, taking place in London on 17th May. Lord Bourne has been Parliamentary under Secretary of State for DECC since May 2015 and a member of the Lords since September 2013.

Organised by the Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA) and the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) the Gas Awards and Gala lunch is once again being held at the London Hilton, Park Lane.

Mike Foster, Chief Executive of EUA said “We are delighted that Lord Bourne has agreed to speak at our event. The role of gas in our energy future looks bright. Over 600 senior representatives of the gas industry and guests from Government and its agencies will be keen to hear Lord Bourne’s views.”

Sarb Bajwa, IGEM CEO said “Securing a leading and prominent figure to speak at our industry awards again demonstrates their status and I would like to thank Lord Bourne for his participation at what promises to be an exciting event. The need to deliver to a first class gas service to consumers whilst continuing to invest in the greenest of fossil fuels is an area of common interest and I look forward to hearing what he has to say. May I also wish all of this year’s nominees the very best of luck.”
