It’s Christmas, get cooking that turkey, on gas of course.
18th Dec 2017
It’s my last blog of the year and I’ll keep it short. After the cold snap we’ve just had, they’ll be plenty of people glad they have gas central heating – nothing dries wet snowballing gloves better than hanging them over a hot radiator!
With over half of all homes using gas for cooking, getting that turkey cooked to perfection will be the biggest concern for many. I’m not offering any culinary tips, except this one – given its track record of secure supplies to homes, you can rely on gas.
And with that in mind, I’m grateful to all those staff who are either on call, or on duty, making sure that supplies flow smoothly and any emergencies are dealt with promptly. Our utility infrastructure relies on them to be there as and when needed, regardless of whether Santa has been or not. So thank you.
2017 has been a hectic year, new Ministers, fresh consultations but always more evidence that gas has a long-term secure future role to play in the UK. I’m personally grateful to all our members for their support in the past 12 months helping us to make that case. Next year will be more of the same no doubt, so we need your backing again to continue our work. Enough of work for now.
I would like to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
