House of Commons launch for new HHIC report ‘Pathways II: A low carbon roadmap for domestic heat’
7th Jul 2015
“The UK Government must make a long term commitment to a single workable heat policy if the fourth carbon budget targets are to be achieved”, says Stewart Clements, Director of the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council, HHIC.
His comments come following the publication of a new report entitled ‘Pathways II: A low carbon roadmap for domestic heat’, which was launched at the House of Commons today.
Mr Clements continued,
“Whilst it is anticipated that carbon reductions will be delivered by existing technologies, we need a strategy that is sufficiently flexible to take account of new technologies and any changes made to energy supply or distribution.
The Government has outlined their preferred all-electric scenario in the Heat Strategy, but this is unrealistic and so together the united heating industry has outlined practical steps, detailed in the report that will need to be taken to make low carbon heating a reality for UK homes.”
The launch event was attended by MP’s, officials from both DECC and DCLG and HHIC members.
